About

B Curtis Family Butchers is a traditional retail butcher, with a catering element to their business.

The Challenge

B Curtis needed to bring together the two elements of their business retail and the catering. The shop element was being managed on old scales that weren’t linked to anything and any changes had to be made on the scale. The Catering side of the business was again being manage separately and was very time consuming.

They didn’t have an E-commerce website which limited customers being able to order products whenever they wanted. The staff would have to write orders down if the customer came in the shop.

Everything they had was very segmented.

The Solution

We replaced the Hardware in the shop with Avery Berkel XTi420 scales and an XTi100 out the back for catering and web orders.

Dimension Pro was installed to control all of the shop, catering and web products. This meant they now had one database to control the three elements rather than lots of separate systems. They have full control over product margins for all elements of the business and a full reporting suite. They are also printing off counter tickets to keep the counter prices up to date with the relevant pricing and allergens. Also all of the labels produced for the customers meet Natasha’s Law and all of the ingredients follow QUIDs.

Next the website was built to start taking orders. Customers can now place an order whenever they want. They can have the items delivered or collect in store. This now means staff don’t need to take orders manually and they can print off cutting lists as well.

The catering side of the business is now put through the XTi100. All the operator has to do is label the products for the customer and then at the end of the process select that customers account. Then Dimension collects that transaction and will automatically; print an invoice and delivery note and email the customer. Then at the end of the day they export the invoices to Xero. This saves them a lot of time and effort and stops mistakes.
